DJ Hype was born Kevin Ford in London and emerged as a drum'n'bass DJ and
producer. He began his career in the late 1980s, working for pirate radio
stations Fantasy FM and Jeb FM before gaining international recognition. In 1993
his single "Shot in the Dark" entered the UK Singles Chart, marking his
breakthrough. Over the next few years he released the Still Smokin' compilation
(1996) in collaboration with Ganja Records and Frontline. He signed with BMG’s
Parousia in 1997 and produced the EP New Frontiers with Ganja Kru, which reached
Number 56 on the UK Albums Chart. DJ Hype als...
