Dissidenten, a German world music band formed in 1980 by Uve Müllrich,
Friedemann Josch and Michael Wehmeyer. The trio's first self-financed singles
led to a tour through Asia by the end of 1981. Their debut album, Germanistan,
was recorded in India and released in 1982. Subsequent albums included Sahara
Elektrik (1984), recorded in Morocco, and Life At The Pyramids (1985).
Dissidenten gained significant success with dance hits like "Fata Morgana" which
topped the Independent Charts in Europe and Canada. They toured extensively,
