Discharge, formed in 1977 in Stoke‑on‑Trent, Staffordshire, emerged from the
early UK punk scene with founding members Terence “Tezz” Roberts (vocals),
Royston “Rainy” Wainwright (guitar), and Anthony “Bones” Roberts (lead guitar).
The band’s first breakthrough came with the Why EP in 1980, which reached Number
1 on the UK Indie Chart and introduced their signature D‑beat. Throughout the
