Dave Stryker, born March 30, 1957 in Omaha, Nebraska, is an American jazz
guitarist. Inspired by The Beatles at age 10, he initially played rock before
transitioning to jazz after discovering albums like My Favorite Things by John
Coltrane and Beyond the Blue Horizon by George Benson. By 17, Stryker was
performing as a jazz guitarist in Omaha. He moved to Los Angeles in 1978,
studying under Billy Rogers and meeting organist Jack McDuff. In 1984-1985,
Stryker toured with McDuff, followed by a decade-long stint with saxophonist
