Credit to the Nation, a British hip hop group, was formed in the early 1990s by
Matthew David Hanson (a.k.a. MC Fusion), Tyrone, and Kelvin in Wednesbury, West
Midlands, England. The group initially gained attention for their fusion of
conscious hip hop with political elements drawn from British left-wing and
anarchist movements. Their breakthrough came with the release of “Call It What
You Want” in 1993, a single that sampled Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.
