Accompanying the emergence of nu metal, Chevelle was formed in 1995 in
Grayslake, Illinois, by brothers Pete Loeffler (vocals, guitar), Sam Loeffler
(drums) and Joe Loeffler (bass). A first demo, The Blue Album, is released in
1998. The band then recorded their debut album, Point #1, with producer Steve
Albini in 1999. Its successor, Wonder What's Next, is released in 2002, and is
more oriented towards alternative metal. It peaked at number 14 on the Billboard
charts with the single "Closure ", which took the top spot on the specialist
