Folk/pop singer and songwriter Brett Dennen was born in Oakdale, California on
October 28, 1979. He was homeschooled and was able to explore his more creative
side, teaching himself to play the guitar and other stringed instruments.
Influenced by Paul Simon, Cat Stevens, Tom Petty, and Van Morrison, Brett Dennen
began composing his own songs. While attending college in Santa Cruz, California
- where he majored in sociology and philosophy - he formed a jam band with
