The Spanish rapper Beret is one of a very select group of Spanish hip-hop
artists who have managed to bring their chosen genre to the attention of Spain's
mainstream music fans. He was born Francisco Javier Álvarez Beret on July 2,
1996, and after choosing a career in music in his late teens he adopted the
mononym Beret. After becoming interested in rap and reggae from a young age,
Beret began to produce homemade recordings experimenting with a variety of
different genres, some of which he would eventually publish on his
